Boa Mistura ~ Dreamers Unite
Boa Mistura is an urban art that group formed at the end of 2001, in Madrid, Spain.
There was no specific client for the project, it was intended as a gift for the city.
To create a video that would document the creation of a community art piece in the centre of Wakefield, UK.
In making this, I was just a casual observer, which I hope has come across in the video.
I have only been in the Wakefield area since September 2012 but already, I see great potential for creativity and social well-being.
Boa Mistura is an urban art that group formed at the end of 2001, in Madrid, Spain. The term “Boa Mistura”, is Portuguese and means “good mixture”, referring to the diversity of perspectives of each member. The group works mainly on the public space, and have developed projects in South Africa, Norway, Berlin, Sao Paulo or Río de Janeiro and now Wakefield.
Boa Mistura has taken part in exhibitions in art galleries such as the “Museo Reina Sofía”, “Casa Encendida” and the “Museo DA2”. They have collaborated with foundations like Beam, NextGen, ONCE, Red Cross, Oxfam and Antonio Gala, and given lectures at universities such as Madrid, Seville, Cuenca or Alcalá de Henares. Boa Mistura was invited to Wakefield, W. Yorks, England as part of a community art project facilitated by Beam, Lightwaves Community Centre and NextGen. Although, the whole Boa Mistura group did not come to England the guys that came made a fantastic and lasting impression on the city centre and the community as a whole.
